Dance
How it all started.
Lindsey found her start in music by way of dance, having grown up doing classical ballet, including pointe work, modern, classical and Broadway jazz, ballroom, hip-hop, tap, and contemporary lyrical dance. She spent two years touring with the Albany Berkshire Ballet Company, as a part of the professional corps de ballet for their annual Nutcracker tour of the northeast, which included performances throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Her ventures into choreography include musicals, such as Fiddler on the Roof and South Pacific, clips of which you can find below, and being dance captain in various musicals and dance showcases. Lindsey has taught yoga and movement warm-ups for young singers, such as Mind/Body/Voice classes that coordinate the body breath and mind for singing. Her first venture teaching this was while on voice faculty at the prestigious Ithaca College Summer Music Academy for gifted pre-collegiate singers. The class was taught at the beginning of each day and saw tremendous results in the vocal abilities, mental fortitude and confidence of the singers. She has also taught beginner ballet classes for opera singers to help equip friends and colleagues with the basic technique and vocabulary to feel confident and comfortable with movement on stage. Please reach out to Lindsey directly if you are interested in joining these classes remotely or in person in Boston!
It is her hope to continue to connect dance and classical voice through projects that involve setting movement to art song and opera excerpts. The ambience of art song yearns for visual expression as well as sonic; if you are a singer, dancer or collaborative pianist, interested in taking part in such projects, please reach out to Lindsey directly.
